The last time I talked to you, I was in Salisbury Connecticut. I ran through the rest of CT and got into MA. Everybody said I was going love MA but it was swampy and the bugs were terrible. I was running from the bugs the whole way. I got into the Green Mountains of Vermont and WOW. They are incredible and it is cold! It was a good thing that I got my sleeping bag in Woodstock.
I want to tell you about Stratton Mountain. There is a ski area there and in the summer, they let biologist track birds there. The biologists catch the birds and take blood samples, pictures, etc. They let us tag along for a while and it really was a good learning experience. After they moved on, they left us all of their food so we ate well for a couple of days.
I made it to the Reggae Fest. I forget to tell you. I made it! It was July 29 in Hartwick TV. When I got to Manchester, my friend picked me up along the way and we drove up together. It was so cool. Vermont is a beautiful state. The climate, the people, everything. I stayed at this place with a couple of friends. Two girls run a hostel there and it was fun to do something so "normal" for a change. I left there and made it to Dartmouth. Dartmouth of course is a college town with lots of fraternity houses. There was one, Tabard I believe that takes in hikers. It is a little odd because it was coed but everything worked out all right. I think I'm going to stay here for a day or so.
It was great to talk to you and I can't wait to tell my government teacher the decisions that I have made along the way. I have given serious thought to going back to school and becoming a teacher. I do not know why exactly, but I feel like I have discovered my calling while on the trail.
